Hi I have tried to read the online help and no luck -
I save files as with all media checked
but i am always losing these files - it is annoying - i must be missing someting simple - i am now trying to open the file
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Videos\GABRIELLE 1st year.vf
OR
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Videos\GABRIELLE 1st year.vf.bak
I get the file sould not be found box -
i then click on specify new location or replacement file - try new names etc - and nothing
when i click "open" on the file tab - the file is listed there - but will not open ( as mentioned above)
so - if the file it saved on the program - why am i having trouble each time I come back to it to work on it - this is ongoing - so i am obviously doing something wrong
please help anyone!!!

please help me -
I need to know how to LOOK for these files
also when i find them - how do i save without this happening all the time
thanks

I suspect that you are actually opening the .vf file ok. Does your project show up on the timeline if you ignore missing files? What's probably happening is that at one time you had a video clip or other item in your project that you're not using anymore and have deleted from your hard drive. Vegas continues looking for this file because it's still listed in the project media pool. After ignoring missing files, click Tools / Clean project media. Then save your project with a new name, like GABRIELLE 1st year-b.vf. After that it should open without complaints.

I suppose it's also possible that you deleted or moved some clips that you are still using in your project. After ignoring missing files look at the timeline. Are there any clips that say "media offline"? If so, you've moved or deleted those clips and Vegas is still looking for them where they used to be.

thanks - I tried ignore all missing media
and it brought it up in the timeline -
I did the "clean media pool" and resaved as
there is no media saying offline
so I will close and try see if it opens up again -
thanks for the help

actually after looking again - ther ARE some files stating media offline
but i have not deleted them from my pc - maybe just duplicates from different
programs eg picasa and zoom browser etc

should i re insert these??

ok - i reinserted pics - saved the file as again
but when i try open again
i get the same missing folder
so i have to innore and leave offline for it to open

if i have cleaned all up - why is this still happening and if this is the only way it will open -
is it a problem down the road???
