This is kind of common at any retail outlet that leaves the boxed product out in the open. If you are buying software from a retailer that does this, please inspect the box carefully, and make sure that you know about the store's return policy. If you should happen to purchase one of our programs without a manual, make sure that you save your receipt. You can then fax us a copy of the receipt and we will issue you a new serial number. Thanks for the heads up, GG.

!! If you find an older box with a manual inside, great. The software may be slightly out of date, but you can always download the latest updates for free from sonicfoundry.com and you are encouraged to do so.

But please be aware that part of the deal with the Best Buy special discount price is that there is no printed manual in the box. PDF documentation is of course included and is also available for download.
A "light" box is NOT by definition defective no matter who says otherwise- in fact, at Best Buy, a "light" box likely contains a more recent version of Vegas.

In the box on, just not printed on the manual.

My Best Buy purchase at the discount price included the manual, and I have to complement SF on the the quality and comprehensiveness of the manual. I purchased from the Best Buy internet site as soon as I heard about the discount because I thought VideoFactory was such a tight product and knew VV had to be even better; not disappointed! I then visited Best Buy stores in St. Louis, MO and Fort Smith AR the following week and all the Vegas Video boxes at the discount price definately had the full manual enclosed, there is no mistaking that heft.
