What is your original AVI source? Some cameras and codecs are not natively supported by Vegas.

Do you think you've handed Preview priority over to the Trimmer Monitor? ( We haven't had this one in a while?!?)

Thanks for the reply. The source is standard - it previews fine on another machine.

I don't know what you mean, so I guess I could have. How is what you mention done and undone? Thanks,

Thanks Grazie, you nailed it. I checked the Trimmer and found a button called "show video monitor". As soon a I made sure it wasn't pressed the previews came back. Not sure how this happened as I've never trimmed anything. Could I have accidentally switched it on with a keyboard shortcut?

Thanks again,

Yup, I saw yah do it! This was a great Gotcha when this feature first came out. All us VegiNutz were over it like a red rash on the bottom of the Reddish Red thing from the planet Rash-ana!

You don;t even have to USE the Trimmer to do this. But having said all this, you might wanna train yourself in the Art of Dual Screens for cutting?

What's "the art of Dual Screens"? Does it mean using two monitors - if so I'll have to knock out a wall to make room for one.

Cheers,
