mixed mode cd

is it possible to make an svcd that also has mp3 files on it?
my dvd player will play either format fine, but if i put mp3 files on the same cd with the svcd folders, the player will only play the mp3's and ignore the svcd stuff.

nero has options to make a "mixed mode" cd, and this is where i tried to do this. i also tried it as if i were making a data cd, but in each case the mp3's will play, but the svcd stuff is ignored. can this be done?

thanks in advace,

You're asking 2 questions here. Can you put mp3s on an svcd - yes. Can you play it on anything other than a computer - probably not. There are set top boxes that can play DivX which might be worth looking at, but I'd expect the player to look at the file structure and decide that a cd's either a (s)vcd or it isn't - (s)vcd + extras isn't likely to be an option.
