mixing down to....

so what is an easy format to mix down videos...up to 30 min.....to fit it on a CD-R, but maintain the highest quality??

i mean, i know that it is 2ish gigs for that video with defult compression (whatever is normal..lol). so what codec, etc. would people suggest? thanks a million...i'm having dsome problems with it sorry, lol.

depends on your target audience or intended purpose. I'd suggest one of the following formats.

1 - windows media 8 at 2Mbits (easy but requires windows for viewing)

1 - you could make a VCD or S-VCD (much more work but will play on win/mac as long as they have DVD software and on many standalone DVD players)

I'd recommend Windows Media 8 and encode it at 2M. it should work great and you just have to throw it on a cd and give it to someone.

btw - there is no default compression, but if your talking about DV video your 30 minute piece would be about 7 gigs.
