Mixing DV and ScreenCapture Movies

Hello,

My primary format for this project is 800x600 5fps which is the defacto Screen Capture movies settings.

This is also what my project settings are. This is all well and good untill I want to incorporate DV footage. Any ideas the best way to bring in the DV footage to this lesser mutimedia format.

I have tried capturing DV and then exporting the DV to this format with varied sucess (big file sizes, poor quality)-but that was on a Mac using different tools.

Im new to avi and wonder if I should just use Quicktime for this type of thing. The screen capture footage is avi (the only option).

For what it's worth, stuff I've seen and read about involve projects for things like tutorals on CD, or perhaps combined web & CD/DVD. In fact, my 1st suggestion would be to post in the DVD forum over at DV.com, the moderator has done lots of this stuff I think.

I have seen/heard of anything from 5 - 15 fps used, and I know some folks use separate clips at different fps when they have to show a talking head. Normally that would be taken care of by the software they used on a CD, but on the web I'd consider going to winmedia where you can script all sorts of stuff, or just list separate clips in the .asx file in the order you want them to play. Could also embed scripts or events in your wmv files to trigger the next clip and more.

In this case, go to whatever fps the DV looks good at (12-15?), then play a series of clips, switching between 5 & whatever other fps you've used.

Hope something there gives you an idea or 3
