Mixing In Vegas-The Stereo Buss-Help

We have been tracking with D88's, they soundgreat and can store large
jazz/blues/classical songs. We made a multi-track file that has 24 stereo
ins and 24 stereo outs, so that we can control the content of each track.

We run into problems when, for example we have a bass track next to
say a guitar, when we work on the stereo track we have to go into
Forge 7 and it brings up both tracks..it would be nice to have our system
in mono so that we can buss the corrected track back to the board in
mono (not the guitar and bass). Since you can not config mono busses,
it gets a bit strange. Should we make 52 stereo busses, but make the input
mono and skip the second track?

Has anyone done a system that gives mono acces, to the mixer of the
corrected track out?

Or, since Vegas 4 has Dolby 5 track, can sonic do a dropdown that is 24/32
mono..that would be a nice Christmas gift for us "ancient" analog cats!

Why not record your files into vegas as mono tracks, use 24 busses for getting the audio out, but pan alternate tracks hard left hard right and send to the same bus? Or am I missing something in your workflow?

I will try that, I guess the stereo buss thing was messing with my analog
brain! You make it look easy!

Thanks..
