MMC and MTC control issues

I am trying to use external synch via MMC and MTC to my DAW, Cubase 11 Pro.  It actually works but has a flaw.  Every time I hit stop in Cubase, Vegas Pro 17 stops and then returns to the start of the video.  I just want it to stop in place.  When I hit play it takes a moment to chase back to where it belongs, very annoying and nearly unusable.  If I want to stop on a frame I need to switch control back to Vegas 17 Pro and maybe that is part of the answer.  I am an amateur video editor, to be honest, and prefer Cubase in control but willing to learn a new way if need be.  By the way, I currently have two workstation PC computers because there was an ASIO conflict between Cubase 11 Pro and Vegas 17 Pro that made it impossible to run both on the same machine.  Correct me if I am wrong.  I am using Synergy so I can control both PC's from one keyboard and mouse.  I want to upgrade to Vegas 19 with the special they have now but I am hesitant if I can't resolve this issue.  If you can help me please contact me.  Thank you, Richard Goforth.

In Vegas Pro (any version for at least the last 10 years), go to menu Options/Preferences/General (tab) and check the checkbox named 'Make spacebar and F12 Play/Pause instead of Play/Stop'. With this setting enabled, the curser will stop at the point on Vegas Pro's timeline when stop button or F12 button or keyboard spacebar is hit to stop play. I don't have Cubase so I have no idea how this will interact with Cubase.

Thank you Dexcon. This was a big help. I actually have the trial version on Vegas Pro 19 but I think it should work the same in 17 Pro in case I just keep that. I found that Vegas works best as the MMC master. I can still jump over to Cubase and set markers and such but I am trying to make sure I am sample-accurate now between the machines. It seems really close mostly. I am messing with the ruler setting now. Cubase snap-to-grid must be off while synched. Also, I need to start a new project with all the right preferences like frame rate and such set the same between the two programs. I still have much to learn but, Dexcon I thank you for your contribution. Hopefully I figure more out tomorrow because I am up past my bedtime stressing with it all, but at least I have hope now. Good night.
