Mocha Vegas Tracking Layer Terminated Prematurely

Sassylola wrote on 12/26/2023, 5:03 PM

I have also posted this on the Boris Vegas Mocha forum also.

I downloaded the Vegas Mocha Quick start, phone screen track. I am following along with Elizabeth’s tutorial. When I get to the tracking of the finger layer, I track back, then before the finger is off the screen I get the message tracking layer terminated prematurely. If I track forward I get the same message before the finger leaves the phone screen. I attached 2 photos showing tracking back and one tracking forward. I cleared the cache in Mocha.
I do not know what I am doing wrong? Thanks

Give this a try:

Thanks monoparadox, I have to make my masks bigger around the finger than what is shown in the training video. I have included a videos of a mask that I think is big enough but Mocha does not.

The masks look big enough to me, but as you can see Mocha losses them going back and forward when tracking.

Along with the tip above, if you're going to try tracking fast movements and you're just starting using mocha invest time in learning the adjust track module and how to do some manual tracking. Mastering that will save a lot of time and grief down the road.

I found my solution to this problem from a forum member on the Boris Mocha Vegas forums.

I followed ronald.guthrie's advice and deselected my GPU Processing and it now tracks fine. It tracks slower than my NVIDIA 4090, but it tracks properly.
When I was using my GPU to track, my PIP from Mocha would never fit properly onto the phone screen. Yes I  followed Elizabeth's guide to switch to no on maintain aspect ratio, and no on stretch to fill frame. But my photo would not fit onto the phone screen. Now that I have turned off GPU processing, when I go to the apply motion track menu and apply the image with Vegas PIP it  now properly  fits onto the phone screen.

Now when I outline the finger mask and use link to track to the finger track matte, my track is off. I have a lot of manual refinement to do.  When I apply a new TRACK to the finger mask, and DO NOT use link to track, I have almost a perfect track. I have to manually refine very little of the tracking that was done.

Thanks for the advice I never would have read those release notes.

From Mocha Vegas release notes:

Issue: MO-11740 Crop mask is not properly masking during GPU tracking
Platform: All Platforms
Product: All Products
Bug Description: GPU tracking with a crop mask appears to not be respecting the crop
mask as cleanly as the CPU tracker.
Workaround: Track with GPU processing off.

I hope they can fix this issue with the GPU processing, I payed a lot of money for my 4090. Thanks again.
