MOD Files & VMS10

Am experiencing no problems importing and working with MOD files on my XP PRO SP3 desktop, but can't say the same for my new W7 home premium laptop. I shoot 16:9 video, then use the supplied camcorder software to download MOD files as MPEG-2 to the laptop's hard drive, then import them into a VMS10 project using NTSC widescreen properties . Once the clips are in VMS10, they seem to be formatted and visible as 4:3 & unusable. I tried pre-rendering using ntsc widescreen parameters to no avail. Is their a fix for this?

Right click on the clip and choose Properties. There you can change the media settings to widescreen. You may also have to uncheck Maintain Aspect Ratio.

Obviously something about the process in W7 is not retaining the metadata.

What software? What settings?

Does simply renaming the file extension from .mod to .mpg not work for you?

unchecking Maintain Aspect Ratio is the solution...thanks very much!

musicvid...can't change the clip to mpeg. For now, using Panasonic's bundled software for importing but don't have to.
I was able to fix the problem by unchecking Maintain Aspect Ratio in the clip Properties.

Yes, of course you can change a file extension in Windows. There are many web sites explaining how to do this, as well as Windows Help on your computer.
