What's reasonable for you? B&H has the Sony PVM 14L2's as demo's for 850.00, new for 970.00. We just bought two demos for the VASST tours this year.
They also have a 14m4U for 799.00. If they had two of them, we'd have bought them. 800 lines of res....very cool monitor. Can also manage an HD card if you want to buy it additionally.
Flat screen monitors are going to be the future for monitoring for video, IMO. Because this is the target audience viewpoint. And, with more and more media going to progressive scan, this will also be a consideration.
Believe it or not, Walmart has a really great 17" for 569.00, it's the new Sony. Very sexy. We bought one as a wall mount to dual feed with, and it's a huge difference for the progressive scan media. Much better than working on a computer monitor, as the gamma is semi- matched to the NTSC monitor.

The Sony's are great monitors. If you don't have quite that budget, try the JVC TM-H1375SU 13 inch monitor. About 400 dollars. Good monitor for the price.
