Mono audio track from camera tape?

That other thread has put a curse on me :)
I jest not, I just captured a camera tape, camera unknown, and dropped it on the T/L and the audio track is 16/48 mono?

Not that it matters that much, just yet another oddity in this game. Just for laughs though I'm going to play it back again in my deck, it sure sounded like stereo when I was capturing it with VidCap.

Not to worry, I found the problemo.

Went back and checked the tape, definately stereo, the decks meters gave that game away. VidCap though insists it's mono 16/48K?

Loaded me old mate SCLive, not a sweat, lovely pipe organ in STEREO like it should be. So why could VidCap be having a problem, could it be that the tape is DVCAM, gosh a proprietary Sony format causing Sony's VidCap problems???

Oh yes, I tried spooling the tape past the leader, just in case I'd struck that other VidCap bug, same thing.

So that's 4 tapes that I have to recapture, 3 hours wasted, enough said about ships eh.

Well this is on one of those overpriced Digital Master tapes, the little ones. I have good reason to suspect the camera was a Z1, switched to DVCAM. The other set of tapes are 16:9, this one's 4:3 and the most common camera around that does that is the Z1.

I'd heard rumours about Vegas having issues with Z1 tapes recorded in DV, I guess that's what I've struck although DVCAM with locked audio, should be a breeze to not get wrong. For a deck I'm using the M15U. None of this seems to worry SCLive though.

Another oddity though, I tried playing the AVI file in VLC and it gets the audio at the wrong speed, now that's even wierder. Will have to wait and see what everything makes of the SCLive AVI files.
