Hi Daniel,

Better, probably not
Cleaner, probably not
Faster, probably not, but maybe - if your rig needs to swap to disk a lot

Ram helps the most when previewing (rather then rendering), and it helps even more if you like to have an image-editing application open while you use Vegas.

How is the image being deformed?

When the cross effect transtion is performed, the screen becomes wavey, almost like a vertical blind effect

Download a little freeware utility called RAMpage. It installs in your System Tray, and keeps track of just how much ram is actually in use at the moment.

I have found that my system only uses about 200MB even when rendering, and that's with about 40 processes running in the background. More ram will allow for longer "Dynamic RAM previews", but that's about it.

How about increasing the 'Dynamic RAM Preview'??

Of course, closing down all background programs, and a fresh reboot always helps too.

Hi Daniel,

Are you using Vegas captured DV footage or from another source?

Is the distortion evident in the renders? Are you rendering at Good or Best quality?

Is there anything out of the ordinary regarding your material or setup?

Does it print to tape like that, or is it playing out through the computer monitor? If I'm not mistaken (and I probably am... I'm by no means the most technically inclinded individual here!), it might just be a refresh issue with your video card, providing that you're only watching via your computer...

If it's printing to tape like that, damned if I know!

Just out of idle curiousity-- are you trying to push it through uncompressed? Check your settings... your computer just might not be able to keep up.
