More V7 woes....

I resorted to capturing to cineform intermediate to get around the building peaks issue, but I would rather have a 12gb m2t than a 40gb intermediate for one pass edits.

Problem is on 2 separate systems I have gotten 1 BSOD, several lockups and exception errors. I am also getting sporadic single black frames, which I thought was an issue with V6 when you had preview ram set to something other than default. I have had more crashes in 1 day than I have had in V6 for a year on over 40 long form projects.... My excitement about the great m2t performance is waning.. :-(

u know u CAN still work with m2t natively in V6...
the end resutl wont be any differnt..

why not just use that for now?

You can't view m2t realtime in V6 the fps is too sluggish and you cant grab handles and scrub it with any viewing accuracy at all. V7 m2t actually acts the same as DV.

As far as I know that up to know, the "building peakfile issue" seems to take place when you capture with HDVSplit only. Using the internal HDV capture function of Vegas, I have not seen that up to now.

Is that in line with your findings?

Actually I have found the building peaks issue to affect m2ts captured in Vegas's internal capture for V6 &7 as well as cineform's.
They build fine in V6 not V7.

The way I have temporarily got around it is capture the tape in Cineform intemediate with ConnectHD

Working on HDV 1080 timeline and all media is conformed. Moving along with editing and during playback an exception error box pops up and then Vegas kills itself. System does not lock up. Resatr vegas to last project restore dialog. Restore and lost about 10 edits. This particular event has happened at least 6-8 times in the last 2 days....

Bruce,
I've now experienced this on two computers, very different hardware sets, but my dual AMD draws the peaks correctly. Very odd, but I can confirm the same problem here.

Whats killing me more is the constant exception errors on basic m2t timeline playback & editing. No filters or plugs just plain raw firstpass editing.

Apparently the constant exception errors were coming from Cineform. I had 3.0 installed. After applying the 3.2 update it seems to have resolved this particular issue.
