More Vegas Video 3.0 Woes...

DrDelerium wrote on 8/14/2002, 3:11 AM
I recently ordered an upgrade from Vegas LE to full Vegas 3.0. When I try to install the software, I get about halfway through the installation procedure when I get a pop up dialog box stating that a "newer version of the software has been detected". After that the installation procedure is terminated. I assume it is finding the Vegas Video LE that I installed from Sound Forge 6.0. Should I uninstall Vegas Video LE and then install Vegas 3.0? I am running 98SE (Fer sure it's SE...) and meet all of the minimum requirements for the software. I sent this to the CS people, but no answer as of yet. Does anyone out there have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Doc.

if you have VV3 now, you won't have a use for VV LE right? might as well try uninstalling it. you can always re-install it if you have some need for it.

Did you order the upgrade as a boxed package or as a download? If you ordered the boxed package then you probably got an older version of Vegas. If this is the case then you'll want to download the 3.0c update from here http://www.sonicfoundry.com/download/step2.asp?DID=375

It certainly wouldn't hurt to uninstall the LE version.

I don't know if this applies to Vegas 3, but i seem to recall that the LE version of 2 was the complete Vegas software, just with some of the features locked out. It could be upgraded under the Help menu by entering in the activation code you received when purchasing the upgrade. No installation of the full version was necessary.

I am a newbie so I talked to SF yesterday. I installed the download 3.0c without uninstalling 3.0. SF said they heard some folks had issues doing that so suggested I uninstall and then reinstall just the 3.0c. Did not seem to help by preview video "stay on", but just some info for you. Good luck and plan on reading this forum a lot.

Thank you all for the advice and help. It was the VV LE software. As Chienworks said, VV LE is the whole shebang with some features locked out, as it asked me for a activation key once (which should have been my first clue)... Anyway, I uninstalled VV LE and now have VV 3.0 installed. It was just that the software I have upgraded from in the past has always needed the "limited" version installed to build on. Live and learn, eh?

Once again, my thanks!
