More window focus weirdness

I have my mouse set so that window focus follows the pointer. However this does not seem to be consistant with the mouse wheel. If I have been on the master bus window (or plugin preset text field) I can move the pointer (and focus) back to the track view window and fiddle about, but spinning the wheel still affects the master vol or plugin preset or slider in some cases.

Is this Vegas or the mouse driver ?

Am I really the only person to regularly try to zoom my track windows with my mouse wheel, and inadvertently change a plugin preset or parameter ( or a channel vol/pan slider) ?

Second and last reply to myself. Have catalogued and reported to SF.

What is it , is inconsistent implementation across various windows of the TweakUI function "Activation Follows Pointer" where a windows focus follows the mouse pointer.

This is correctly implemented in Sound Forge, but is variable in Vegas, especially when going *from* plugin, Explorer, media Pool windows to others. The wheel focus stay on the last control/field rather than shifting to the active window. Of course it does shift once the new window is 'clicked', but that should be unnecessary and will probably interupt playback etc.

This makes it easy to inadvertly alter a setting in the previus window accessed.

It seems correctly implemented in Forge, poorly in CDA5, and OK in Acid *except* when moving *to* a plugin.

Apart from this glitch this "X-mouse Emulation" is a great way (the only way )to work in our interactive realtime applications.

Ahh, shot in the dark here but this may be a Windows, Tweak UI problem. Microsoft implemented a security update about a year ago that in turn disabled several Tweak UI functions in response to whining in behalf of those that are not knowledgeable enough or paranoid such as the arrows on shortcut icons. For a time the consensus was it would be addressed but given the release Win XP it looks unlikely.

In the latest XP version it is actually enhanced further, with options to not only switch active window with the pointer, but also to (optionally) bring that window to the top.
