We are doing some optimization of video filters and I am wondering what y'all use most frequently. Please post your top 3 most commonly used filters here-
I know this is the wrong thread for this, but I did exactly as you suggested, twice, once just deleting the file and then reinstalling the Video Factory Demo, then I tried again, first deleting the file, uninstalling Video Factory Demo, then reinstalling. I still see no film fx plug in. I see the text generator and I think some new plug ins, but no film fx.
To answer you original question, the brightness and contrast filter, the chroma keyer is fun, and if I had it (sorry) the film fx.
I have just about given up on film fx, video capture, print to tape, and Sonic Foundry. This is truly the only support that I see for Vegas, right here in this forum.....sad, isn't it?
For all you folks having trouble adding the new effects from VF2.0 to VV, you might try completely uninstalling Vegas and VF2.0, then re-install VF2.0 first, and then VV. This cured a few weirdnesses I was having, it's worth a try.
This is not the only place for tech support. You have several options available to you. When you register the program, you get sixty days of free support. The phone number is in the e-mail you receive from us when you register. Once your sixty days is up, there are three options available to you:
1. 1-900-407-6642. This is $3 for the first minute, and $1 for each additional minute.
2. support@sonicfoundry.com. E-mail support is of course free of charge, and we can answer most e-mails within 48 hours.
3. An annual support plan. This is $99.95, and it will cover all of your Sonic Foundry programs for a full year. In addition, you are given a toll free number to call so that there is no additional cost to you, and you will have little or no hold time on this line.
Hope this helps, I would hate for you to feel like you don't have help available to you!
Again, I'm sorry for using this thread to respond. I'm well aware of the support options available to me. Maybe what you need to do is to sit out here with a problem to get a taste of what it's like to get answers. So far, the users in this forum have taught me more than anyone at Sonic Foundry has, and those answers were available to me and any other user in a matter of hours, sometimes minutes, at no additional cost to anyone. There's something inherently wrong with the fact that users of your software seem to know more about it than your tech support staff. And as for the 60 days of free support, it took that long for me to just learn my way around Vegas Video. Now that I have serious questions, the answers are few and far between from SF. Sure, for only $99.95 more, I can have priority phone support and email support, but what would I have done this past weekend without the input of this forum? Would you have answered the phone?
Haywire, I think you're being a little over critical on the SF guys. I felt you're frustration in the past when something hasn't worked right for me. In most cases I found it was my own lack of knowledge on something that was causing this frustration. My solution was to learn as much as I could so that I could overcome these frustrations. I've been using Sonic Foundry's products from day one, and I have yet found the need to contact tech support because I couldn't get something to work. I read their documentation and manuals, and find that most questions that I have is already answered in these documents. You WILL see me complaining in these forums for better features and functionality sometimes and looking for advice on a better way to do something, and most of the time I get a response.
As far as users giving better answers than the Tech support, I consider in some cases you might be referring to me, because I answer questions here almost on a daily basis. So here's my background.
1. I've used multiple audio editors (Protools, Neve Audiophile,Studio Vision, SSL, Cubase,Logic audio, Cakewalk, all Sonic Foundry Software)
2. I've got multiple studio experience in Music and Radio/TV commercial production.
3. I build my own computers
4. I have 5 years teaching experience in the audio field, taught by a motown mastering engineer.
5. I have a degree in Electrical Engineering.
6. I'm a product developer for new CD and DVD technologies.
7. I've wired 5 seperate studios including my own.
8. I've worked on many multi-track formats (2 inch,Adat, DA-88, Hard disk)
That's just some of my resume, and I feel their is other professional audio engineers that use SF products that come to this forum also. I'm not trying to boost my background. I would just be a little disappointed if someone with as much experience as me would be working full time as a tech support representative. I would hope they would be more involved in product development, and that newer employees with less experience would be answering tech support questions.
I feel Ted H and especially PETER give this forum very good technical support on a part time basis. I have yet to see a post made by Peter or Ted that I would disagree with. Also, you WILL see me locking horns with a few users on this forum for giving WRONG information. Fortunately I have the luxury of not being on the Sonic Foundry payroll and don't have to be "politically correct"......isn't that right beetlefan?
I feel it's kind of a shame, they made this post so everyone here could give there input so they could improve on functionality of Vegas and it turned into a personal gripe of tech support. I would expect them not to give us this luxury if this is what will happen when they open up the forum to these types of questions.
I need, want, love Film Effects. Also, Brightness/Contrast and Blur.
As for Film Effects, I have tried the help offered in relation to VF2. Nothing has worked. I can't get it in Film Effects in any way, shape or form into VV2h. I will be patient.
I have had no problem in getting help with SF Tech Support. Keep up the good work guys. Waiting patiently for VV3!

do pixelan spice filters count? probably not!

if not i would have to choose
