Most reliable DVD-R and DVD-RW?

HI.

I did a quick search but didn't find what I'm looking for.

Which brand blank DVD-R and DVD-RW is the most reliable?
I've seen Ritek mentioned. Is that the "standard"?

I'm looking at ordering from a website in large quantities (50 DVDs), and the thought getting low quality isn't too appealing.

Thanks

Mario

Two years ago, I had lousy luck with Sony DVD-R blanks. Now, they're cheaper and seem to work 100% for me.

For less critical stuff, CompUSA's cheapo 1x discs are working fine for me too.

The discs I make I test on five or six machines ranging from a $45 Apex to a $1400 Pioneer. But of course, there will always be that odd player that will give you trouble. Hey, I even have problems with the occassional store-bought disc.

I have spent a huge amount of time trying to get answers to this question. There was an excellent study done two years ago that gave good answers, but it has not been updated. At that time, Maxell was the clear winner for "best" media, as measured by compatibility with the largest number of players. However, this was the Maxell 2x DVD-R (Reorder #635020), and these are difficult to get, because they have been replaced with 4x media.

Ritek is certainly the best of the "discount" brands.

You can look at:

to get information from users on what they believe to be the most compatible.
