Motion blur question

YesMaestro wrote on 11/27/2018, 7:28 AM

I am sure I am doing something wrong. I am using pan/crop to bring in a logo from off screen left to the center. I also want to to this with a bunch of text bullet points. When using the motion blur, all I am getting is ghosting no matter what I set the envelope to. I tried turning off resample on the clip but still no difference. I really like AE motion blur and was hoping to achieve something similar. Any suggestions is appreciated. Thanks

Unfortunately that kind of resampled (ghost) images is all what the Vegas internal Motion Blur offers. You'd need to use an 3rd-party FX to add real motion blur.

Try adding the exact same clip on top of it, but with the pan changed slightly in the direction that you want the blur to be. Mask out the logo that you want on the new layer so that it's the only thing visible on top of you original clip. Now go ahead and blur the new clip and lower it's opacity. In my mind, this will give you the desired effect.

You could make it finer. Do not disable resample!

Press ctrl-shift-B, and insert video supersampling envelope.

Make this raise around hte time where you need motion blur.

Is it any better?

This is curious to me. I thought Gaussian blur would blur anything. Sometimes it might help to add the effect on the Track Level, not the Clip Level, and then fine tune the blur effect using the key frames that appear on the timeline. Also I would try playing with the interpolation settings and adding key frames too. Can you upload an actual video clip so we could see?

Karma17, the OP is talking about Motion Blur, not Gaussian blur. Totally different things.
