Motion Tracked Text in Vegas Pro Suite

fr0sty wrote on 9/23/2016, 5:36 PM

I'm using Vegas Pro 14 Suite... in the promo video for the Boris FX stuff included in the suite, at the end of the video it shows motion tracked 3D text on a shot of Boston. I have similar drone shots I'd like to try that on. I'm looking through the motion tracking options and all I can find is the witness protection, which allows you to blur someone's face and track that motion via mocha, but I can't find any other plugins that support the motion tracking. Am I missing something?

What you want to do works with BCC matchmove FX.

You will not find it Video Effect but in composite mode, using "custom" option.

Refer to this tutorial to use it.

Fr0sty,

I'm considering getting the suite largely for the motion tracking.  How difficult is it to learn?  I watched John's tutorial and it seemed pretty straightforward.

Thanks,

Keith

I haven't had time to dig in as deep as I want to (I want to also figure out how to make motion tracked masks, so I can use it for color correction, etc.), but the experiments I've done so far have been very easy and seem to work well. Mocha's keyframing is very easy to work with once you learn the controls. I can't figure out how to pull up mocha from the move match menu though... hopefully that tutorial above covers that. I haven't tried it with 3D text or other objects. I've only messed with the witness protection thing. Still just getting the hang of it all.
