K - I don't use any QT unfortunately. What happens when you try to open the movie in QT Pro? Any chance of converting it to avi in there, then bringing the avi into Vegas to render as WMV?

You'll forgive me for guessing:

Does it play properly in the freebie QuickTime applet for Windows? (You didn't say whether or not you tried that. If you don't have QT, I recommend installing this instead, because it doesn't load up the registry with a lot of junk:

I move video from FCP to Vegas and back every day. I'm guessing the file was not exported correctly.

Do not use Quicktime much, other than use Pro so that Vegas can read movs. I didn't know you could do that, will try to export and see what's up.

It plays in 7.0.4. PRO standalone player. This is the first instance that I have had that and people give me FCP stuff all the time to finish/edit in Vegas. Thanks for the tip.

Looks like Penguin waste when I convert to an AVI. I hope that exporting to MOV fixes whatever is wrong with his export.

Did you find a good solution... I guess I duplicated this question in another thread. Same issues, but hadn't had problem before with importing MOV.

I'm wondering if purchasing QTPro7 will resolve this. I bought QTPro6 for MPEG4 rendering, but Vegas included it shortly after, then I lost QTPro features when I upgraded Player Only to 7 (ticked me off even though I was warned).

I'm using Vegas Movie Studio 4.0a and am experiencing the same problem. I recently purchased a new computer and installed Vegas. I had the same problem on my previous PC, but resolved the issue by installing Quicktime. (I think that's how I fixed it?)

After the new PC install, Vegas wouldn't recognize .MOV at all. I, reluctantly, installed Quicktime 7.1, and Vegas now interprets the .MOV audio track only. I've seen messages on the forums about options during install, but didn't see any options with the Vegas or the Quicktime.

I know there is a simple solution, since I was able to use Quicktime video on my older system. Can someone please tell me what I'm missing? It may also help rbi with his situation.

UPDATE:
Posting this message gave me an idea. I found an older .MOV and imported it into Vegas. Both audio and video tracks appeared on the timeline. I believe the newer .MOV is HD. Perhaps Vegas 4.0 doesn't read high definition Quicktime?
