.mov auto files not inserting in timeline

jpendl10 wrote on 5/19/2010, 6:22 PM
When I insert my .mov media files into the timeline the associated audio is not automatically inserted into the audio track below the video track.

I have tried .avi files and it inserts the associated audio just fine.

I have played my .mov files in quicktime and itunes and they play with sound just fine.

how can i get the associated audio files to automatically insert into the audio track below the video track when inserting my .mov media files?

Please post your file details.

Download MediaInfo, copy and paste the full details.

In the meantime, here is some interesting reading:

Right-click on the file icon, select MediaInfo, and kindly post the full file details.

Also post your Quicktime Player version. If it is 7.6.4 or greater, the solution is to roll back to 7.6 or 7.6.2 as in the linked tutorial.
Thanks.

jpendl10 wrote on 5/20/2010, 8:27 AM

Upload a sample video somewhere and let us look at it.
Can you hear the audio when you play it on the Vegas timeline?
jpendl10 wrote on 5/20/2010, 11:58 AM
I can hear the audio just fine if plaid in QT.
can not heart audio when played in the timeline.
you can go to www.youtube.com/jpendl10 and watch the video file0006.mov its a 20 sec. clip.
musicvid10 wrote on 5/20/2010, 1:00 PM
No, youtube converts the files when you upload them.

In order to get a meaningful answer you will need to upload the ORIGINAL MOV FILE.
That is so someone with experience can download and look at it.
Try Mediafire.
jpendl10 wrote on 5/20/2010, 1:24 PM
that last link deosnt work try this one

musicvid10 wrote on 5/20/2010, 5:17 PM
OK, problem solved.
In addition to having QT 7.6 installed, you need to rename the file extension from .mov to .mp4

If you are not sure how to do this, there is a video linked in my tutorial explaining it.

That will take care of it.
jpendl10 wrote on 5/21/2010, 7:17 AM
Sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It worked thanx so much for the help.
I did have to change the .mov to .mp4 a little different than the tutorial from that kid on youtube.
I had to click on organize, then folder and search options, then click on view tab. Then uncheck the hide extentions for known files types.
jpendl10 wrote on 5/21/2010, 8:17 AM
unfortunantly i have another problem.
I rendered the 35 sec. video. then played it in QT to see how it looked. It was jumping all over the place and it looked like the video was in fast motion. whats the deal and how do i fix it.
musicvid10 wrote on 5/21/2010, 10:22 AM
Have you tried it in another player (VLC)?
Post the full properties of your rendered file using MediaInfo (sound familiar)?
Did you render it using the default template (uncompressed)? You shouldn't!

QT Player for Windows has a tough time with high bitrate files.
jpendl10 wrote on 5/21/2010, 11:01 AM
i probubly rendered it wrong i just clicked on make move then rendered it. whats the best way to do it?
musicvid10 wrote on 5/21/2010, 11:47 AM
Choose a compressed format from the dropdown list.
The built-in tutorials and help files that come with the program are excellent.
