.mov files no longer work in 7.0e

Afclack wrote on 7/4/2007, 7:40 AM
I've been running Vegas 7.0e for some time without difficulty, however, this morning when trying to place a .mov file on the timeline I got the following error:

"An error occurred during the current operation"

An Exception has occurred.

I've rebooted, and tried many different .mov files all with the same result. It will accept the file in the media folder, but shuts vegas down when put on the timeline. Help!

Did you update QuickTime before this started happening? I was running QT on my Vista system and having no problems with Vegas 7e, then updated QT and now get an error every time in Vegas similar to what you posted here. I tried rolling back QT but that didn't help, and I have no idea what happened, but something did.

Anyone else have any ideas here?

Which version of QuickTime had you installed? I've been using 7.0e to convert .mov files to .avi the last couple of days with no problems. I'm still on QT 7.15. Think I'll stay there!
Nathan_Shane wrote on 7/4/2007, 7:52 PM
Yes, stick with QT 7.15 that version worked fine, it was upgrading to 7.16 that things quit working right.

I had a very similar issue that I posted on a couple days ago; similar error message and all. Mine happened WITHOUT updating Quicktime. It was all of a sudden. A QT update did not help.

Quicktime files are not working (showing as color red in nested veg's.); locking things up for me here...all while I am in the middle of a big project.

That, plus the fact that DigitalJuice items are mostly Quicktime is a real problem.

I had to re-render Quicktime items to DV to keep things moving here.

This is a really, really big pain.

Is there no end to the problems QT7 has caused?
kentwolf wrote on 7/5/2007, 2:35 AM
I don't know if it's actually a Quicktime problem.

May be...maybe not.

All I know is that it won't work when I need it; right now.
Nathan_Shane wrote on 7/5/2007, 5:51 AM
kentwolf...glad you mentioned that Digital Juice items are mostly QT, because I was just about to put some money down for some but think I'll wait to see if there is a solution anytime soon to this issue.

You don't have to use QT for the Digital Juice files.
A lot of them can be rendered out as individual frames and then imported into Vegas as a sequence.
