MOV to AVI with high quality

I've been using various converters I've found with Google but so far they seem to create pixelated AVI files from the MOV source.

What is recommended for high quality conversion of MOV to AVI?

BTW, I'm doing this because both my 7.x and 8.x Vegas Platinums won't take the .MOV when I just rename it to .mp4 or else the audio and video is so out of sync that it's unusable.

Try Virtualdub with the Quicktime input plugin

Thanks.

I tried that, and the result I'm getting when using no compression is stuttering audio.

With the Microsoft video 1 code I'm getting stuttering audio AND the audio and video way out of sync.

Must admit, I've only ever used it for video (Lagarith) and it loads fine into Vegas.
