Movie/Audio out of sync

I'm completely new to both video as well as Vegas (Movie Studio Platinum 9b) having just recently purchased a Canon SX1 that is capable of capturing HD (MOV) movies.. As part of the learning process (and a big one at that) I shot a short movie and dragged it into Vegas but somewhere along the line I must have Vegas set up wrong because on play back there is an out of sync issue of approx 1 second between the movie and the audio. Playing the video using VLC Player or QT this isn't an issue so hence my guess that I'm missing something in the setting up of Vegas. Could some kind soul advice the probable cause of this syncing issue and how to correct it. Many thanks in anticipation.

I've read that on the canon 5D that shoots video, the H.264 is different than most regular AVCHD video.

At any rate, it is taxing on the computer for playback. Have you rendered out a section yet? Is the audio still out of synch then?

Maybe try the demo of cineform Neo and see if converting to cineform AVIs help.

You only have two options with these new h.264 digicams and Vegas:
1. Buy Cineform NeoSCENE and transcode to that format, costs $129
2. Use Proxy Files. Tutorial on my blog.

I use the first option with my Canon HD h.264 digicam too.

Thanks for the reply. In an effort to not splash out yet more of the hard earned readies, option 2 seems worth having a go at. Could you kindly give me a link to where on your blog I am to find the tutorial - I've looked and looked to no avail. :-( Thanks.
