Movie expansion pack volume 1 vs Vegas Post upgrade

I have Vegas Pro.

My main desire is probably particle effects. But I like having pro level compositing too.

The movie expansion pack is on sale for $200. I think it's a perpetual license, which is nice. It includes Boris particle effects, and has other things which seem nice to have.

Vegas Post also includes it's own "particle effects". I think it is also cheaper than $200 to upgrade, but it's an anual subscription. So we'll call that even. But I believe it also has "pro-level" compositing, which is nice to have.

I have no other way to ask. How good is Boris particle effects vs Vegas particle effects? And how good/advanced is the Vegas Post compositing vs industry standards for compositing?

Any other insights between these two options will be appreciated as well.

Thanks.

Particle Illusion, v 2025.0.2

You can also just upgrade or buy VEGAS Post, not Post 365 (the subscription).

Boris Particle Illusion is available as a free standalone application. It sometimes lags behind the OFX version in terms of new feature releases, but normally only by a couple of months (and right now are feature-matched, I believe). You could download and play with it to see if it suits you (don't forget the separate bonus emitters library download)
