movie scoring and vv3?

I am a total newbie looking for a way to get in the multimedia industry....games, movies, commercials, whatever and I would try to avoid analog equipment as long as possible, because I can't afford new investments right now. So after reading LOTS of articles I am getting more and more confused. Here are my questions:

1. Is VV3 suitable for applying music to films/commercials/games in combination with - say - Propellerheads Reason or Acid 3? I know that many use Logic or Cubase or Nuendo, but I am always curious of alternative ways.

2. Do I really need to work with SMPTE?

3. Does VV3 have SMPTE?

Thanks in advance.

Real quick answers:

1) yes (or alone)
2) probably not
3) yes

I'm sure others will fill in tons of details with their own stories and opinions.

I agree with Chienworks. In addition, did you know that ACID 3 has features specifically made for scoring?

I disagree with Chein although that is rare. SMPTE is how all films that I produce are synced. The sound editor and composers are sent locked picture with time code. They produce their parts and they are reassembled with the master picture by time code.

I donm't know how you could do a major feature without it. It is possible to do a DV project without it. Just import the whole picture in and spit it out with the new audio.
