Movie Studio 11

After importing media on the time line, starting the editing process, I do a "save as" not only to name the file, but also so I can finish editing at a later date. When I try to re-open the file, I get an error message "Unsupported Format". According to the error message, the file is saved as a .vf extension and have to start over. This is a recent problem and according to the site, my software is up to date.

Is there any assistance you could give with this frustrating problem?

When you do a Save As, you're saving a Movie Studio project file -- not a video file. So you won't be able to open your saved Movie Studio file with a media player or by importing it into a Movie Studio project. You open a saved Movie Studio project by going to File/Open.

So, before we offer any troubleshooting advice, please confirm that that's the workflow you're using.

Also, please advise us what model of camcorder your original video footage is coming from and what format and resolution it is.

You Save a project, and you Render a video file.
This is a common misunderstanding of terminology for new users.
