I recently have an error whenever I try to start Movie Studio Platinum 12

Have you tried resetting the program ?
Here are instructions:
Hold down CONTROL and SHIFT keys at the same time AND ALSO AT THE SAME TIME double click program icon on Desktop to Boot program.
Window will pop up.
Select Delete Cache and Yes.
This will restore program to Factory Default Settings.

Have you changed your Graphics Card and/or updated your Graphics Card Driver recently ?
This can cause the program to crash. If you have changed your Graphics Card and Drivers, you will need to re-install old card and old driver. Movie Studio should then boot up. Now go to Options/Preferences/Video and set GPU Acceleration to OFF. After doing this you can then re-install new Graphics Card and Driver.

Your only hope may be to do a clean install of Movie Studio.

I had the same problem starting suddenly after using Movie Studio 12 with no problem for over 3 years.
I removed and reinstalled the program from the original Sony disc with serial numbers and everything - no results, still crashes at startup
Performed the graphic card related steps as also recommended on Youtube (related to this problem) - no results ( I didnt expect much either because there was no change related to graphic cards whatsoever and the problem suddenly started.

Removed a recent "update" of Quicktime - BINGO. Everything back to normal. Quicktime's recent update can kill the already installed Movie Studio 12 at startup.

System: Windows 7, 64 bit

Good Luck to anyone having this annoying problem.
