Movie Studio 12 problems editing on timeline

I would welcome advice with any of these 3 queries. I'm using Sony Vegas Movie Studio 12 Build 1184 on a Windows 8 64 bit machine.
1. Why, when editing, does the highlighted track default to the Music track? How can I make it default to the Video track?
2. When I split the video and related audio voice track, a split also takes place on the music track, even though I only have the video and voice tracks highlighted. Is there a way to stop this?
3. How I can I make the text track auto ripple in conjunction with the video and audio voice tracks?
Thanks in anticipation, Regards Danny

1. Arm a different track by clicking the little color square in the upper left of a video or audio track. (I tell you all about this in my books, available at Amazon.com.)

2. If you have no tracks selected, your split will split all events and all track. .If you have an event selected, on that event will be split.

3. Change your Auto Ripple settings to affect all tracks (under the Auto Ripple button at the top of the interface).
