Make sure your split screen view is set properly.

What do you mean? When I click Compositing mode I only get Multiply (Mask) and Source Alpha and no screen as in the effect in compositing mode.

Then it is likely you're don't using Sony Vegas Pro but Magix Movie Studio.

Yes, Movie Studio (Platinum) offers these two compositing modes only – "Source Alpha" and "Multiply". "Screen" and others are available in Vegas Pro.
