Movie Studio controlled by your tablet

Basic video (cuts) editing can be a lot of work, even with Sony Movie Studio. I believe basic editing can be more efficient and comfortable with less user actions. Using a tablet for basic editing is my latest experiment to improve my editing workflow.

I made a ” remote” for your Android (f.i. Nexus 7) or iOS (f.i. iPad) tablet to control basic (cuts) editing with Movie Studio.

Well that's very interesting. More and more people are moving to tablets so maybe you have something there. Have to study your website some more to see if I can do it on my Samsung 12 inch tablet. Have you actually been able to test your program?

It should work with your (Android) tablet.
I have tested my "program" with iPad 2 and Nexus 7.
The remote is based on the app Unified Remote.
Maybe I will add a short demo video on my website.

I added a video to my website for an impression what you can do with it.

So to understand your program...The actual Movie Studio is running on another computer but you can control it using using a tablet? If that is correct?

Yes, it acts like a remote control.

Your tablet sends keyboard shortcuts and sequences of keyboard shortcuts when you press a button.
Movie Studio doesn't see a difference between direct typing shortcuts on your computer keyboard or keyboard shortcuts from your tablet.

Try it, installation instruction are in the readme file in the download.

How does the tablet communicate with the PC? I assume that they must both be connected to the same network.

My tablet is connected wireless (WiFi) to my home network. My PC is connected wired to my home network.

I use for the remote control the full version of the app "Unified Remote" (see Google PlayStore or Apple AppStore). This app communicates with your PC through a little piece of "server" software you have to install on your PC to use the app. You only need to start the "server software" when you want to use the app; it is not needed to have it in the background all the time.

So no hocus pocus or hacking Movie Studio. Movie Studio only notices keyboard shortcuts. The source of the keyboard shortcuts is your tablet when you operate the controls of my "program" (remote) on your tablet.

Instructions are in the readme file in the free download on my website.
