"movie studio has stopped working"

I've been in the middle of a project several times now when a message on the screen appears on a whitish background that "vegas movie studio has stopped working". I'll then close, then reopen the project and find it's forgotten the last 3 previous edits/changes made to the project. Anyone know what gives? This is getting quite frustrating.

It's possible there is some incompatible media on the timeline at the point where the error occurs. Try renaming or removing suspect media from the project and try again.

And do a Save As from time to time during your editing session to have multiple versions of the project. This way, if the project file should become corrupt, you don't lose everything.

I've never had this problem with vegas 4. At the point where the problem occurs, there is standard def .mpeg2, to a solid colour media generator, to a .jpeg file. The audio track is comprised of audio from the .mpeg2 to an .mp3 file. I've done this many times and don't know how this could be "incompatible media". Could any of this cause my problem? Have you also has Sony Creative Services take their time answering questions?

Try this, open a second instance of VMS then select all events in the timeline from the first and copy them, then paste into the second. If something is corrupt in your project file, copying to a second window may clean that up.
