Have you gone to Windows Update and selected Restore Hidden Updates so that you can manually download the updates that don't install automatically?

Do you have the latest version of Quicktime from Apple?

Have you run Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter to tune up your system?

What is your processor, how much RAM do you have and how much free, clean space is on your hard drive?

It must be some sort of conflict then. Or something (like the graphics card driver) that needs updated.

It runs like a dream on both my Windows 7 and Windows 8 machines.

Try a clean uninstall.

I have an E6600 that has run Movie Studio 8-12. Also, try updating your video driver.

Also, try updating your video driver.

Or the driver is too new.

@Clark5080, are you a gamer? Something is obviously conflicting. In the startup splash screen, what module is it on when it crashes?

No not a gamer Just a photographer. Been using movie stdio for a long time infact the older version on my computer works fine still just can't do HD

There was an update of the driver just before I installed the program. Rolling back to the older driver now

uninstalled the driver and reinstalled the older one, Uninstalled Movie studio program and reinstalled still no go. It stops within 2 seconds of launching

Have you tried starting up Vegas while holding shift and CTRL? This will reset the program to 'factory' settings.

rolled my system back to before the video update and instal of VMS. Reinstalled it and still doesn't work tried the shift control trick and that didn't work either. I assume it doesn't like my video card ( NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS)
Glad I didn't just buy the upgrade before trying it.

This is just strange why version 8 continues to work just fine but the new one will not run on my machine.

Ok so I uninstalled MS12 and also QuickTime. I installed the latest QuickTime and then Move studio 12 and that fixed the issue.
