Movie Studio Platinum Timeline Problems

dallir wrote on 3/7/2010, 2:05 PM
Hi,

I have just purchased the Platinum movie studio software and I can understand the basics. However, I have been given a mini disc to try to compose a video with. I can import from the disc into the media generator, but when I click and drag it to the timeline it plays at strange speeds and jumps all over the place. When I play the disc in windows media player it plays fine. Windows media player is showing the video as approximately 60 titles as opposed to one complete video, due to the playing and then pausing-could this be the problem?

Any advice would be appreciated as the instructions are not the most complete, regards

Ryan

What is a "mini disc"? The only product that comes to mind is the MiniDisc, which Sony is the main producer of both player/recorders and blank media. A few years back they "improved" upon the device with HighMD, but it never really took off.

If this is what you have how are you importing?

Sorry-i meant a mini DVD that some camcorders record onto. Like I said the movies plays ok in windows media player, but when imported to the timeline it doesn`t play normally. Can you help me please? Or else I will be there for hours doing something which should take minutes!

You didn't say how you are importing your disc. It is an important question.

I am using the media generator and then selecting the cd drive and then the file.I haven`t adjusted any of the preferences as I am a novice at this. The playback when I drag the file to the timeline is choppy.

-- The "Media Generator" does not import video. It ermm . . ., generates media. Accurate language is appreciated.

-- Opening video on the camcorder disc for editing is not a good method, in Vegas or any other application. You need to rip it to your hard drive first.

-- Use the "Import Camcorder Disc" function in Vegas. Read all about it in your help files.

-- Report back if any problems.
