MovieStudio won't start

I just rebuilt my computer with an Asus motherboard, SATA RAID, Dual Channel Memory, Prescot Core Pentium, etc. It is a screaming machine. I reloaded MovieStudio on it, looking forward to a better editing/rendering experience. Instead I've got nothing!

The MovieStudio splash screen appears for about 1-2 seconds, then it goes away and nothing happens. I upgraded to the latest build, hoping that would fix it - still nothing. Video Capture works fine (I sent into Program Files and executed it separately), but editor terminates without any message, log file (that I could find), or event in the Event Log. I've tried terminating unnecessary processes, removing unnecessary USB devices, etc... still nothing.

Has anybody got any ideas? (who would write software that errors out silently, anyways?)

Do you have screenblast or vegas movie studio?
You can't install the vegas update in the screenblast directory. If not try a repair install.

I have Screenblast Movie Studio, and I updated with screenblastmoviestudio3.

I experienced this when I had Screenblast running on XP. In desperation I tried opening Screenblast using my wife's user account and it opened normally. So I created a new user account for myself and used it whenever I needed to use Screenblast. Sorry, this was more of a workaround than a fix, but I never did find out how to correct the original problem. When I installed the latest version of Movie Studio, I could once again open it in all user accounts.
HTH.

How extremely wierd. I'm running XP also. I tried it and it worked - just as you said.

OK Sony - what's going on here? We have a work-around, but somethig is out-of-whack and you need to address it.

Thanks for your help.
