Moving clips on tracks...

If I have say... 20 clips on a single track with a track above with generated media, and I want to add a clip in the middle of those 20.... How do I move ten clips as well as its generated media all at the same time without effecting duration, transitions and so on. I am looking for a way to "lock" a selection of clips and move it where ever I wish.

Here's one way:

1. Move the event to the right of where you want the gap.

2. Hit Ctrl/Shift F. This is post edit ripple, which will move everything to the right of the event you moved by exactly the same amount, on all tracks. Each time you want to make an adjustment, Ctrl/Shift F will keep the rest of the program in its relative position.

You could also do this by dropping the new event where you want it then Ctrl/Shift F

How about the ole Right Click + Grab 'n Drag for the "Shuffle Events"? . . . Will this do what you want, too?

Grazie

Hi Grazie
I think the method you describe relies on Auto-Ripple being enabled.
Personally I never have this on - I like to have control over when rippling occurs.
(It's a single button on my Shuttle Pro.)

I know there's always Undo, but if auto ripple was on and I were zoomed in to, say, an early part of the project, moving things around, I might, absent minded old git that I am, forget that I was causing ripples further down the line.

By the way, I have requested Sony to have a warning popup up if there are any locked events affected by a ripple - this is something else that can cause confusion with any ripple.

P.S. Change subject ... Did you hear this story - Harry Kewell playing against the Solomon Islands the other day - he is earning more every week than his opponents will earn in a lifetime.
