I just click and drag to the timeline.

Actually, by coincidence I found a very simple solution:

When I go through the media in the media pane, doing preview etc.

When I find an interesting clip, I just press 'Enter'. This will automatically add the clip to the end of the timelime.

Using this method I can quickly build a rough timeline, which I then can finetune direct on the timeline.

I would like to have 'Insert' or 'Append' buttons, but I havent found them anywhere.

Doubleclicking on a clip in the media pane in my setup loads the clip into trimmer.

There's a setting in Options\Preferences\General that can alter that to the timeline

Yes, I know about this setting.

My point is that I would like to use more shortcuts and less mouse.

It is faster and gives your mousehand a rest, since yo do not have to doubleclick.all the time.

With my setup I use the mouse to select media in the media pane and automatically preview it. The enter button moves it to the timeline. Then I just move the mouse to next clip and the process repeats itself.

As I said I would like the option to use more shortcuts when creating the timeline, as you have in Davinci or Avid or other editors.

The timeline in Vegas is so easy to edit that I prefer to do the edits there instead of in trimmer. But more shortcuts would be helpful.

Also, I love the solution in DaVinci Resolve where you just drag the media to the preview window and then a menu pops up, where you can choose to insert, overwrite, append at end etc.

In my opinion such choices would be more useful and simpler to implement for the Vegas programmers than a lot of this AI stuff. - I am old fashioned :)

We all have our "personal preferences" that would work for "us". But "us" isn't everyone. Long time users of Vegas are used to the way it works. So they would have to change to accommodate these changes.

I personally use a lot of keyboard shortcuts too. But I also use the mouse.

As for this being simpler for the programmers, maybe, but let me ask you, what do you think has the possibility of bringing in new customers. AI features or an keyboard shortcut.

Nothing wrong with the suggestion though. And I hope you are one of those in the Resolve forum asking for a change in the way the playhead/cursor works, and that it should work like it does in Vegas Pro.
