Moving VP17 Suite to a new computer.

Reyfox wrote on 1/28/2020, 4:36 PM

Yes, you can have VP17 running on a new computer.

In the process of migrating over to AMD X570 with NVME and installed VP with no problem. The problem came when it was time to install the Boris Continuum and Sapphire plugins. I get the dreaded error message saying I can't because I exceeded number of activations.

Any suggestions?

You probably need to contact Boris to get it sorted.

@Reyfox Maybe this page helps?

It says "If you want to transfer your activation key to a new machine or are rebuilding your machine, you need to first uninstall Sapphire from your old machine to release the activation key."

@Shinra Bansho thanks for the link. At the very bottom, it says I have to uninstall the plugins. The migration over to the NVME drive will take some time as I weed out software, etc that I no longer need or use. But this has been helpful!

@Reyfox … do you have the BorisFX Application Manager installed? If yes, you should be able to deactivate your current install of BCC via the licensing tab on the app, install BCC on your new computer and activate it via the installation process. This has worked for me in the past with BCC12 when I changed my computer's C drive. As Sapphire now comes under BorisFX's umbrella, the same process may apply with Sapphire though I can't attest to that as I don't have the Sapphire plugin. Another caveat, the Boris app manager works with BCC12 and 13, but I am unsure about earlier versions. If the app manager does not work with earlier BCC versions, then it will be a case of contacting BorisFX to deactivate. In years past when I've needed to do this, BorisFX has been very quick in actioning this after I've lodged a support ticket to request same.

@Dexcon yes, I have the Application Manager installed. I have the full Boris Continuum 2019.5 installed. I see I can deactivate my perpetual Boris license along with a couple of Sapphire plugins.

Thanks!
