MP3 crashing - can't register

I have an audio project with a few MP3 files (as source media) in it, and not much else. I rendered a few of these sections as MP3s just fine, and closed Vegas. Next time I opened vegas, it was unable to read the MP3 files. They just came up as empty events. Also, when I try to render anything as MP3 now, it brings up a dialog with a "Register..." button.

I remember once, somewhere, seeing that the MP3 CODEC was a trial or something (?) and that I needed to register it. Is this true?

Since I bought full versions of Vegas+DVD, (I'm on 6d) I should be able to read and encode MP3's, right?

Clicking "Register" only causes the whole application to crash. Now I don't know what to do.

I should mention that this particular computer is not connected to the internet, so any online-only registration is not going to work for me.

Please help!

I've had exactly the same problem in CDA, attempting to register the mp3 codec causes the whole thing to crash. Then I tried registering it in Vegas and had the same problem. Unistalled everything and then registered the mp3 codec via Vegas, worked fine.
Then installed CDA and the mp3 codec is already registered.

so maybe if I open up CDA (I've never used it before!) and try to register through there... ? Is it a purely online registration, or do they offer a telephone or 'portable' version?
