Mp3 Distorted After Updating to Vegas 16 Build 361

Leo wrote on 3/16/2019, 5:03 AM

So today, I installed Vegas Pro 16 latest build (version 361) and after that, when I went to open my saved project on it, I noticed that when I played one of the parts of the project back, my mp3 files were sounding very distorted. Now, this wasn't present on the previous version of Vegas 16 but as soon as I installed Vegas 16 (version 361), this problem started happening. If anyone has a solution to this, please let me know as soon as possible since I have been working on this project for quite some time now and I don't really want to ruin it all just because of this problem!

Check Options/Preferences/Audio Device/Audio device type: … has the audio device type changed from what you had on the previous build of VP16? It shouldn't have changed, but it's worth checking.

Also, do a search on this forum for 'mp3 distortion' or similar - the subject has cropped up before on previous VP versions.

Hey Dexcon, thanks for the reply, but as you suggested to check the audio device type, I did do that and I saw that it hasn't changed from what I had on the previous build of VP16. Also, I did look up some solutions to this problem and the only thing that keeps popping up is to disable so4 compound reader by going to the internal tab by clicking on the preferences tab while holding the shift key down and then searching "so4" and then disabling the compound so4 reader for AVC/MT2S and I have tried that but it doesn't work! I have also reinstalled Vegas 16 once more and still this problem persists! Can you tell me what may be causing this problem?

I will check this out, what rendering parameters. kbps, CBR, ABR, ect.?

A confirmed MP3 overwrite issue still exists AFAIK.

The move to Build 361 was not without problems for me. If new video FX is added to events in an old project, the previous ones are deactivated. If the project is first saved in the new version and then reopened, I can work in the new version as before. I do not know if it also affects audio, but it's worth checking. The project should be saved under a new project name. Even if there is no improvement for audio, this approach is good if you experience the same problems with video FX.
