MP3 error Unsupported format in Vegas 8.1?

Recently updated to Vegas 8.1 and all seems well except for one rather odd problem. None of my MP3 audio will open. not sure if anyone else has had this problem but i searched the forums and found nothing. Can this be caused by having another program be the default for MP3's? like iTunes or Nero? Is there still an MP3 plugin that has to be registered that maybe i missed?

Any advice would be great.

Dunno if you're suffering the same problem close enough for this to help, but try putting any audio file you can open on the timeline, then render to MP3. This may cause a plugin registration/activation box to pop up. Follow the registration procedure and you may then be able to open MP3 after that.

I will give that a shot after i finish reinstalling Media manager. At this point, i am willing to try anything.

I reinstalled Media manger and it seems to have fixed both my problems.
