MP3 File Issue (Sony Vegas 15)

I am making a youtube video and I went to add background music that is saved as a MP3 file. But it doesn't play the music. It has no audio waves and it doesn't have sound either. Can someone help me fix this

Does it playback normally in other apps / players? The VideoLan Media player for instance plays back just about every format known to man-kind.. If it does playback, transcode it to a PCM file <.wav> and put that on Vegas' timeline. It you can't convert in your PC, there are plenty of free on-line conversion sites.
