Mp3 Is Silent

I've posted this before in the Video forum and got no solution, but maybe here it'll get answered:

I inserted a small 40 sec clip of mp3 to my Vegas project, but Vegas recognize the mp3 as silent, i.e. straight lines amplitude... I tried to make it louder but Vegas still didn't play any sound..What could be wrong?

Here is another thing I discovered: The file will only play in Winamp... When I try to play it in any other player it would be silent (although the total playing time stays the same)...
