mp4 audio slightly out of sync

When rendering to wmv, sync is ok. When rendering the same project to mp4 (sony avc codec), the audio is slightly out of sync. Tried all the obvious. Is this codec buggy?

SonyAVC has quite a few bugs, yes. Or, try another app to read the mp4 file, quicktime, vlc, mcp with ffdshow.

I thought in that direction also. Still, it's a strange case. On my system (vms 8 plat on Vista) there are no sync problems, on my friend's system (vms9 plat on XP) there are these sync problems, using the same codec and template.
