MP4 file not importing correctly

I do a lot of editing and uploading videos to YouTube. I've been using Sony Vegas 11.0 build 283 for a few years now without issue, but recently ran into this issue:

1. An MP4 file wouldn't import to Vegas. Instead, the programme would freeze and show 'Not Responding'.

2. A friend of mine edited the name of the plug in folder from compoundplug.dll to compoundplugg.dll. After that, the MP4 file successfully imported in Sony Vegas. Yay!

3. Or so it seemed! It appears only the first 16 minutes of the 1 hr 27 min work perfectly, but then the video freezes. The odd thing is that the audio continues to play just fine, only the video image freezes at that point.

4. I tried renaming theMP4 file, re-importing it, moving it to another folder and importing from there. I tried clicking and dragging and using the 'Import Media' button. I also imported other MP4 files and they worked no problem, it seems to be isolated to this one event.

I look forward to hearing from you, and help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Until then, have a good day.

We need more information to be able to help you.

1. What has changed? New software or codec pack loaded?

1a. Updates to Quicktime or video drivers might have sneaked onto your computer.

2. What do you mean by importing - are you dragging from Windows Explorer to the timeline? How are you importing?

3. Have you tried re-importing a previously successful file?

4. Use Mediainfo (free program) to display the details of the file giving you trouble and copy the results into a post here.

That will give us a start...
