MP4 Frame Sizes (For the Web)

Folks, I'm trying to make an MPEG-4 file for the web that's 256×144 pixels in size, however both the profiles in Vegas 7 force me to use 256×192 and any changes to the height value always reset themselves (this is both with the Sony and MainConcept profiles).

QuickTime can make MPEG-4 files that are 256×144 so why not Vegas?

QT doesnt adhere to the standard. AVC resolutions I believe have to be divisble by 16 for Main Profile and divisible by 8 for High Profile. I could be wrong.

I don't know if you're right or wrong about the standards, but I do know that 144 is divisible by 16. ;-)

The original file is square pixel 256×144 (which is indeed divisible by 16) and is being handled as such in the project properties.

With both the renderers forcing a 256×192 output, I'm getting black letterboxing in the rendered file, very odd...
