MP4 playback in Vegas (H.264) very slow...

How can I prevent Vegas from using it's own slow internal codec to decode MP4 files, and rather use the much faster Core AVC Decoder that I purchased?

I renamed the mp4plugin2.dll within the Vegas subdirectory, but Vegas still chugs when playing MP4 files. I don't think it is using the Core AVC codec I have installed.

Enabling multi-core use for playback made no difference in playback of my MP4 files within Vegas.

Why is codec management such a black art within Vegas??? Why isn't there a codec management interface that shows me which codecs are being used?
