You have to apply for a new activiation unlock code. According to Ron, you can't even get one for two weeks because the license agreement Sonic Foundry had with Ligos for their MPEG encoder expired and they won't extend it. So until the new one is available you're out of luck. Downloading the Vegas Video demo won't do you any good either...unless you purchase it outright, because the demo is crippled and prevents MPEG use also. It is a sad situation when you can't fully use software you paid for. I know...

Aha! Maybe this explains a similar problem I'm having. I installed Video Factory 2.0a on a new machine, and it registered OK. When I tryed to register the MPEG plugin, I got a message that the serial number is an activation code, "try again later".

I've had no response at all from Sonic Foundry about this, which is unusual.

I guess I should have look furhter down the Forum list before posting this same problem. I just tried last night and got the same error.

If you go to the product page for the upgrade to VF 2.0, it has a link message to the new Mpeg encoder. If you email the contact, he will put you on a list to be notified when the Plug-in update is available.
