MPEG 1 and 2 rendering problem

Trac wrote on 9/16/2002, 10:48 AM
I can't manage to render any clip both in MPEG1 or MPEG2. I register programs via satellite with my Technotrend card which saves the streams only in MPEG2.

Althought the render process ends correctly (or it seems to) after 11 to 13 hours (!) for a 2 hours stream, the final stream shows audio/video out of sync, portions without audio, video freezed, etc.

My system
Pentium IV 1,5Ghz - 512 Mb RAM
System HD 30 Gb Fireball 7200rpm
Video HD 120 Gb IBM 7200rpm
Video: ATI All-in-Wonder Radeon

Thank you,

What os are you using, and which version of VF?

Thank you for your interest.

I'm using Windows XP Pro and VF 2.0c latest build. I read some of the other messages and it seems that Windows XP may interfere with VF.

Hmmm, I have a similar setup and am OK. I do get occassional freeze ups, but not a lot. I also can say I dont have sync issues. I use to but only with analog converts using a Dazzle System. With Digital avi's going into SVCD, there should not be sync issues...?? I will so though, using mp4 conversions (DIVX) the sync is messed at times. AVI2 should not be an issue. There is a canopus converter, link is on this forum someplace, that may give you more options for initial file before the render. It takes about 3 hrs for a 38 min movie, so your time for a 2hr movie seems lame but typical, the_ripper

Trac,
Some other things to check are defrag (I had a similiar problem once that defragging corrected), killing all of your background stuff while rendering to make sure nothing hits the processor that could temporarily interupt the process. Not sure if any of this will help but these are things I play with when having problems.
